At Remode we research and design ways to optimise the fashion creation process towards the circular economy — to create the future of fashion we are proud of, the one where we don’t need to extract new resources to create new beautiful products.
Our design process prioritises collaboration over competition, focuses on true transformation over incremental changes, and a strong purpose over short-term wins.
1
Sourcing from waste
Unlike traditional fashion design that starts with a blank canvas — we begin with what already exists: discarded textiles. This step is often challenging — as it reverses the traditional starting point of fashion design, and starts from a predefined frame. Lot’s of out-of-the-box thinking kicks in — as we seek to transform limitations into opportunities.
2
Research & development
This phase is about understanding the state and potential for reuse. We delve into how we can recover the most from each model and material. We explore more sustainable, circular and regenerative approaches to creation, and how it can go hand-in-hand with the emerging technology. How could data exchange, process automatisation or digital tools help us unlock a circular economy?
3
Re-design
Our designs are always a statement against the notion that waste is dull or useless. This step is where creativity flourishes — we see the fusion of different textures and histories as an opportunity to showcase the beauty of co-creation. Our goal is to create an unconventional collage that not only reflects the identity of REMODE but also honours the essence of our partner brands.
4
Re-manufacturing
The final stage is production, where our circular designs come to life. Collaborating with artisans and partners, we leverage their craftsmanship and hands-on experience. Together, we determine the best production methods to translate our vision into tangible garments — ensuring that our creations are not only circular but also align with the highest standards of fashion.
We help integrate circularity both to well-established brands and starting designers. From design and collection development, to powerful storytelling to engage the audience in positive change.
